"One love, Jesus Christ.
One burning desire, to give him to others."
Blessed James Alberione
Welcome to the Internet home of the film: Father James Alberione - Apostle of the
Media!
This film on Blessed James Alberione is a PBS-style documentary by Sister Helena R. Burns, FSP (Chicago), on the lifework of the founder of the Daughters of St. Paul and the Pauline Family.
Historical footage and commentary intertwine with modern cinematography and current interviews with his contemporaries, to bring Alberione and his message to life for the 21st century.
PURPOSE
► to offer Alberione as a role model for those who foster within society a media culture built on faith values and the dignity of the human person.
► to better connect the Church with the world through the media by presenting this man and his mission as an antidote to polarization and fundamentalism;
►to help people, especially the young, envision themselves growing as persons in an ever more technological and "wired" world;
► to help young people discern within themselves a possible vocation to the Pauline Family as a sister, priest, brother or lay person.
Nothing similar exists anywhere at this time. Its focus is the tens of thousands reached by English-speaking Paulines worldwide, especially in the U.S. and Canada.
"There are so many lives of the saints still to be told! Storytelling has an eternal quality to it, and, for me, filmmaking is a wonderful way to visually inspire people in an indelible way. Fr. Alberione said it best: 'The motion picture has a psychological, one could say, a suggestive, power over the human spirit, because it takes hold of the whole person and influences all his faculties, physical and spiritual.' "
